Dave Law joined Liquid Light in March 2014 as Executive Vice President, Operations, and was promoted to CEO in April 2015. Dave is a Chemical Engineer with over 33 years of wide-ranging experience in chemical plant operations. Prior to joining Liquid Light, Dave served as Vice President, Production and Technology for Basic Chemicals at Bayer's Baytown, Texas facility. In this role, he led the electrochemical operations for the Chlor-Alkali and Hydrochloric Acid plants as well as the site-wide Environmental Control, Utilities and Infrastructure for Bayer's largest facility in the Americas. He served on the Board of Directors for the Chlorine Institute for 6 years. His earlier assignments at Bayer included senior leadership roles in HSEQ, Operational Excellence, Industry Affairs and Coatings Isocyanate manufacturing. He has had two international assignments and was an integral member in the industrial scale-up of innovative Isocyanate manufacturing processes.
Dave has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering-Honors program from Kansas State University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
CSO & Co-Founder
Dr. Emily Cole is a co-founder of, and Chief Science Officer at, Liquid Light. Prior to joining the company, Emily developed the catalysts, systems, and processes needed for conversion of carbon dioxide to liquid fuels and industrial chemicals in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Bocarsly. Her work on reaction mechanisms and kinetics was integral to the success of the Bocarsly Group in converting solar and electrical energy to liquid fuels.
Emily holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Texas, Austin, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
Chris Lowe is currently a partner at FLG, a leading CFO consulting and board advisory firm. Chris has over 15 years of senior management experience as CEO, CBO and CFO of various private and public technology, life sciences, and medical technology companies. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of both public and private companies, and has chaired their respective Audit Committees and Compensation Committees. Chris helps companies succeed by assisting them with corporate and financial strategy, inculding early stage financing, successive fundraising and IPOs, public company advising and Wall Street communications, licensing transactions, M&A, restructurings and coaching at every level of the C-Suite. During his career as a C-level executive, Chris has successfully raised over $500M in private and public financings, completed over $1.0B in M&A transactions, negotiated over $300M in debt instruments for companies, and has overseen three SOX-404 implementations.
Chris earned his B.S. from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, and a MBA from St. Mary's University.
Bill Baum leads Liquid Light's Business Development efforts. Prior to joining the Liquid Light team, he served as Genomatica's Chief Business Development Officer, and he currently sits on Genomatica's Board of Directors. Bill also spent thirteen years at Diversa Corporation (now Verenium Corporation), a biotechnology company focused on the development of biofuels. He held several positions there, including Executive Vice President, Business Development. Bill has also held a variety of executive positions at two specialty chemical companies, International Specialty Products, Inc., and Betz Laboratories, Inc.
Bill holds a B.S. in Chrmistry from Widener University.
David M. Gange
Intellectual Property Manager
Dr. David M. Gange has over 30 years' experience in scientific research and intellectual property management. David started his career at the American Cyanamid Company where he developed new biologically active compounds and founded the computer-aided molecular modeling effort. After stints at two startups, as Director of Chemistry and Director of Technology Development, David founded Altimatia, a patent research consultancy. In the fall of 2012 David joined Liquid Light as Intellectual Property Manager.
Dr. Gange received a B.S. degree, with Honors in Chemistry, from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from Ohio State University. David is the author of over 25 patents and scientific publications.
